Carmel Feast

What is Carmel feast?

Mother Veronica, the Patroness of our congregation was ardent and full of zeal to work for the missions in India when she was sent to India to find a house of congregation at Calicut, Kerala on 27th April, 1862. She responded to an inner call and under the guidance of father Marie Ephrem O.C.D., discovered her vocation to find a third order of Carmel for the missions to serve the need of faith-formation through the education of the young girls of the west coast of India on 16th July, 1868 at Bayonne, France and established at St. Ann’s Mangalore, India on 19th November, 1870.

She shines upon the dark world of ours, gives light to erring minds. We her children are called to reflect the glory of God and to witness his goodness in our daily living. The word ‘CARMEL’ means ‘FERTILE LAND’ or ‘MEADOW LAND’ also called ‘GARDEN’. MOTHER MARY, Flower of Carmel is the Symbol of Beauty. She brought to bloom the arid slopes of Carmel. She showers the heavenly graces on the arid grounds of our hearts so that it may bring forth Flowers of Virtue.
